I saw it coming in the weather forecast, but I was hoping and praying that the meteorologists were wrong. They weren't. Snow and cold cold temperatures arrived again Wednesday morning, putting an end to 10 days of cool but playable golf conditions, and it looks like the real winter temperatures are here to stay for at least another 10 days. In those 10 days of passable weather, I was at the Sand Creek Station golf course playing or practicing 7 of them. I had 5 days where I managed to get in a full 18 hole round with scores ranging from 93 - 105. I got in one 9 hole round where I only shot 42 (If I could only get in two of those back to back). Each time I went, I spent at least an hour at the range practicing or experimenting with my golf swing. I have read 3 new golf books that I need to re-read and take notes this time so I can easily refresh what information struck a chord with me. These books are: The Game Before the Game, A Swing You Can Trust, and The Art of the Short Game. Reading golf books is a blessing and curse. It's great to gather such useful information from golf instructors and teachers who have helped dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of other golfers in their respective areas of expertise. The downside of it is, as hard as I try to clear my mind of all the swing instruction I've recently read when I leave the practice area to go play golf, I have yet to succeed. Since I have the better part of 2 weeks, at least, before the weather and temperature will allow me to try my new found knowledge on the range or course again, I have decided to work on my strength and flexibility. To that end, I purchased an 8lb toning ball to do some swinging and twisting exercises with. I also just got a new Titliest Vokey 58° Wedge from The Golf Warehouse that I will be practicing with in my basement since I don't want to lose balls in the snow. Hope I don't dent up the ductwork too much.
